“This will be the day when all of God's children will be able to sing with a new meaning, "My country, 'tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing. Land where my fathers died, land of the pilgrim's pride, from every mountainside, let freedom ring.”

An Oceanic Symphony & Kinetic Art Installation
Through a dynamic collaboration of engineers, oceanographers, environmentalists, and diverse professionals, alongside visionary artists, and with generous support from both government and corporate partners, I am spearheading a groundbreaking project. Our goal is to showcase the awe-inspiring power of the ocean in a way never seen before.
Imagine standing on the shore at night, surrounded by the rhythmic crashing of waves. Now, add to that symphony a stunning display of light, orchestrated by the very waves themselves. As each wave rolls in, it triggers a symphony of colors and lights, creating a breathtaking visual experience. The colors, intensity, and patterns of the lights are all dictated by the unique qualities of each wave.
This project is more than just a spectacle; it's a testament to the beauty and power of nature. It's a reminder of our connection to the ocean and a call to action to protect it for future generations. Join us on this journey as we harness the ocean's energy to create a symphony of light and sound, unlike anything you've ever experienced. Together, we can make a difference and inspire others to do the same.
Rock it RED!
With the assistance of Bank of America, the United Nations Association in Tampa, as well as the City’s Art’s Alliance and numerous other organizations, I was able to bring a long-held dream to reality my creating a mile and half long visual red ribbon down St. Petersburg, Florida’s Central Avenue.
“When Jim came to me with the idea, I thought he was out of his mind. But he hand-died each piece of fabric, I sewed them together and he painted the letters on it in the basement of ACT UP San Francisco. It was magnificent.”
“Turning that corner and seeing that triangle suspended over the neighborhood was absolutely surreal. It made a bold, unmistakable statement that left me speechless and proud.”
For me the word queer, as I told my heterosexual friends, was more about how I related to the world than just my sexuality. When I said “Keep the Castro Queer”, I meant nothing more than Austin’s ‘Keep it weird’ - just 30 years earlier.
It was my call to support locally owned businesses over big box store retailers gentrifying the neighborhood. Now I’ve lived long enough to realize and appreciate the folly of standing in the way of progress and betterment as well as the benefits those changes bring to the communities they raise up and the wealth it can create for struggling families.
